Panel rowboat adrift after collision near harbor

A small rowboat from a local company collided with a larger vessel off the harbor. No injuries reported as authorities evacuate the area and investigate the incident and anchor lines are secured. The incident prompted detours for nearby ferries and a temporary ban on approaching the scene.

Hubbard Medal to Lindbergh at Washington Luncheon

A gathering of 19 aviators including Charles Lindbergh attended a Coolidge era luncheon in Washington to honor Lindbergh and discuss transoceanic flight weather services. Ruth Elder and others arrived by train or plane, while plans for a night weather service were outlined by officials including Mav Bracken. The Hubbard medal will be conferred on Lindbergh tonight at the auditorium for his New York to Paris hop.

Red Cross Memberships Open for Renewal

Beginning November 11 the United States may renew Red Cross memberships. Coney Reserve Chapter joins chapters nationwide in seeking to reach a goal of 6,000,000 members this year. Renewals will be received by Mrs. W. M. Houghton, Mrs. Veath, and Mrs. TF Gitlin.

Death Claims F M Parkhurst Corry Resident Passes

Frank M Parkhurst retired jeweler and Corry resident dies at 655 East Main street after a 23 week illness at age 73. Born October 4 184, in Clymer New York he moved to Corry 21 years ago and remained active in the jewelry business until seven years ago. Survived by wife Mary J Parkhurst two sons Charles and Melvin, three brothers and other relatives. Services at his home Wednesday at 1 o'clock with Rev W B Bartlett. Burial in Clymer Center Cemetery J J Naylon noted. he had a business trip to New York City scheduled this morning.

Ranger Shot by Bootlegger in Moonshine Hunt

Waynesboro Pennsylvania November 14. A state forest ranger, Clay Williard, was shot and critically wounded during a search for a moonshiner believed to be near moonshine operations. The assailant used his own revolver, and investigators fear the forester was targeted while spying on the illicit activity.

Education Week will be observed in Cory schools with open house evenings at both Senior and Junior High. Concord PTA meets Friday afternoon and a Junior Elementary PTA Council meeting Tuesday afternoon to discuss forming a PTA. Plot Thwarted in Obregon Assassination Attempt

Mexico City November 14 three men were detained and one seriously wounded after an attempt on General Alvaro Obregon's life. The attackers’ car pair tossed bombs at Obregon’s auto as he returned from Chapultepec Park. Wounded Tirado may die. Suspects Francisco Olvera Lombardo Ruiz and Antonio Firatoe claimed innocence, saying they were hired by others. Obregon, unhurt beyond facial wounds, attended a bull fight and blamed political enemies.

Man Killed Ten Hurt In Wrecks At Toona Pa

United Press reports a man died and ten were treated at area hospitals after a series of auto accidents over the weekend in Toona Pennsylvania. None of the injured are thought to be in serious condition.
