Falls Injure Two Women In Union City Homes

Two women suffered serious injuries in separate falls yesterday. Emma Grant, 65, Union City, was taken to Cory hospital after a fall at her East High Street home, breaking a hip and facing serious risk. Harry Lamona, who had been ill, fell from a chair on North Senior Street, with a thigh fracture and a slow recovery expected.

Mauretania Safe In Port After Terrific Atlantic Storm

United Press reports the Mauretania arrived safely in Plymouth after a fierce Atlantic gale that battered the liner. Twenty passengers and crew sustained minor injuries from bruises and the force of waves that neared the funnels. The voyage from New York began last Wednesday with notable passengers including W. A. Harriman and Alfred A. Knopf aboard.

Missing on Vessel Seventeen Ten From Coastal Boat

A fishing boat with eight missing crew members was reported three miles off Little Machaponga Inlet Virginia. The Sixth District Coast Guard at Lawes Delaware notified Coast Guard headquarters today. the vessel name was not released.

Red Cross Seeks 150 New Members in Corry Drive

Rev. Frank A. Wimer spoke at the Rotary Club luncheon at the Hort Corry delivering an Armistice Day message urging peace through negotiations to ensure friendly relations among nations. Postal Robbery Loot Exceeds One Hundred Thousand Dollars

United Press reports that about $100,000 was stolen from the registered mail vault at the Stevensville post office. The payroll cash was bound for the Pronto pint of the Wollardre Joe and Vin Haer company via a Pittsburgh bank route. Two men were arrested in Wheeling, West Virginia, as investigators moved to recover the funds.

War memorial subscription drive in City Park progress

The land for the purchase and erection of the War memorial unveiled in City Park was used for a subscription drive. The Mutual Co MUtual Telephone Co supplied a receipt and $50 toward the cost, and about 250 or so subscriptions remain needed to meet the total.

Lakehurst New Jersey November 1 The naval dirigible Los Angeles sails from Lakehurst to aid in locating survivors from the Vestris disaster. The ship leaves today and is expected to reach the scene by daybreak tomorrow with aircraft assisting in spotting wreckage.

Pleads Guilty in Erie Court

Vestris Sinks After Long Struggle At Atlantic Capes

Rescue vessels searched the Atlantic off the Virginia Capes for survivors from the Vestris after the liner capsized in a storm. Lifeboats and rafts drifted for hours. by November 19 reports list dozens rescued by the American Shipper, Myriad, and other ships while coast guards continued the hunt for missing rafts and additional survivors.
