Meadville Officer Details Slaying Case Involving Brinkley
Meadville Police Captain John Holt testified at Crawford County Court that there is no direct evidence Robert Brinkley of Meadville intentionally stabbed Clifford Decker of Bradford. Brinkley, 23, is charged with killing Decker after a confrontation near the Commodore Hotel on West Street last August 26. Holt noted Brinkley did not admit stabbing in four signed statements, though one describes grabbing Decker and a knife incident. The defense pressed on whether Brinkley actually stabbed Decker, with Brinkley stating “I guess so” when asked if his knife struck him. The cross examination also touched on unrelated questions about prostitution and race, with Holt answering affirmatively to whether whites visit West Street for prostitutes and noting some racial resentment. Brinkley is a Black man. Decker was White.
