Judge Refuses Plea in Erie Wife-Shooting Case
Erie man Freddy Toward Freund faced county court on a three count indictment for attempted murder and aggravated assault in the 1928 shooting of his wife Margaret Freund on a parkway. The defense sought a guilty plea to lesser charges but the district attorney objected. Freund remained held to November criminal court with a $1000 bond.

Mrs Mamie Howell Dies at Spring Creek at 61
Mrs Mamie Howell of Spring Creek died at her home this morning at about 10 o clock. She was 61. She was wife of Daniel Howell and a lifelong resident of the area. Survived by husband two daughters Alice Kelsey and Howard McDonald three sons Albert Carl Merle two sisters and one brother and several other relatives. The body is at Bracken-Keating Funeral Home with friends to call after tomorrow morning. The funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mrs Nora W Stimson dies after long illness
Former resident Nora W Stimson died Friday at 2 pm in Westfield Hospital after eight years of poor health and a fall injury. Born May 22 1870 in Sparansboro she moved to Idaho at 18 and later lived in Freehold township near Wrightsville. She is survived by son Karl and daughter Meg with many grandchildren. Funeral services planned at Brack and Keating Hattie Monday at 2 pm with interment in Lotta Ville Cemetery.
