Game Protector Traps Bear In Raids On Honey
A 260 pound bear was trapped this week in the Stewart Run area by Game Protector Cecil Toombs of Tionesta. The bear was caught between Tionesta and Pleasantville, in the same spot as one caught on April 27. The animal had raided bee yards at Russell Smith’s and had been feasting on honey for four nights. It was moved about 45 miles to the Forest County line beyond Marienville before release. Toombs suspects it may be the same bear released earlier from Stewart Run proximity.
