Leu Guy Stokes 51 of Pleasantville RD was struck and killed while crossing Titusville Pleasantville Highway Route 27 to fetch radiator water. The accident occurred about 7 10 PM Sunday on Fieldmore hill as he attempted a second crossing. Driver Lawrence B Williams of Pleasantville, with Mr and Mrs Ray Phiten present, remained at the scene. Santa Monica Calif Nov 8 Several thousand firefighters battled brush and woodland fires across four southern California counties seeking to curb blazes of possible incendiary origin. Flames rose toward the Santa Monica mountains consuming about 100 square miles and more than 100 dwellings. About 40 000 to 42 000 acres burned across San Diego Riverside and Orange counties with no reported loss of life. PBS San Diego chief Harold Nathan questioned possible sabotage as fires continued.
