Mangled Erie Worker Found Near Union City Crossing

Special to the Journal Union City November 6 A fifty year old John O Connor section worker on the Erie railroad lay mangled on the tracks about four hundred feet from the Fourth Avenue grade crossing. A nearby worker found the body after seven o'clock and said several trains passed over it. Coroner Frances McClintock ruled accidental death with no inquest. A sister in Belfast Ireland was identified among relatives and $1.50 was found on the body. The man had likely been asleep in a freight car near the Shreve plant prior to the tragedy.
