Washington November 4 The War Production Board ends wartime control as the Civilian Production Administration assumes the remaining powers. Officially WPB fades after today with last full operations yesterday. About 23 000 workers shift to the mercy agency to continue core manufacturing tasks and oversee 52 business controls and three priority regulations left from 650 wartime measures.
State Police investigated a reported theft from Mr. and Mrs. Steve Tinko near Corry. They said more than 2000 dollars in cash hidden under a floor was taken, along with bottled beer from the cellar, with no timely report filed before Friday.
No change in Greyhound bus strike today as Corry forms service remains, West Ridge lines still operating under a separate railway union. City has no Greyhound employees, yet central station closures disrupt movement of servicemen from distribution points, with potential government seizure looming.
From Yokohama November 3 nineteen American soldiers and three merchant seamen died last month from poisoned liquor in Honshu. Ten others were poisoned including one who became blind but will recover.
