We the People by Jay Franklin on 1935 election reflections
The essay recollects a 1920 Nantucket visit and a Paris night in 1926 as a chorus of political shifts. It weighs Wilsonian ideals, Roosevelts era, and the arrival of the Republican return, ending with musings on history and change. The piece contrasts liberal and conservative views and muses on whether realists reconcile evolving ideas with human nature. The author forecasts political currents into 1931 and notes personal ties and regional notes from Aunt Molly and Paris.

Weather Sensitiveness Reveals Weatherlinked Ills
Two Lyons doctors report a striking case in a baby hospital where all infants aged 2 to 18 months became agitated and cried from 9:30 pm to 8 am after a mass of air from the Sahara Desert moved in at 9:00. They attribute unusual electromagnetic conditions in the atmosphere to the phenomenon. The report notes many people are sensitive to weather changes, especially barometric pressure and humidity, with high pressure and dry air causing comfort and low pressure with moisture causing distress. Some are especially wind sensitive, and the piece calls for serious study of weather-related effects on welfare.
