Shipplingport nuclear spill deemed minor accident
The Atomic Energy Commission says a spill of radioactive material at Shippingport plant was a minor incident with no release to the atmosphere or Ohio River. Two Duquesne Light Co. workers were treated for heat prostration. scans for radioactive dust were negative. A Pitt physicist disputes the safety claim, alleging river contamination and threat to nearby water supplies.
