Harrisburg May 29 The state live stock sanitary board orders allow county fairs and shows to exhibit livestock not under quarantine if animals originate from non quarantined territories for foot and mouth disease. Action followed by officers and state agriculture board after review of fairs plans.
A new quarantine order was issued by the State Board as parts of the state previously under ban are released while 44 districts remain under strict control. Foot and mouth disease cases were found on Hitch farm by Dr Hoswall, with quarantine still in force within three miles of H E Pita farm in the county and near Biderkin farm in Warren county. No new cases since April 25 except a few in the Philadelphia yard from cattle shipped from Kentucky.
A May report from San Francisco describes a late night blaze aboard the Mackinaw, a vessel of the Robert Dollar Line. Four ships reportedly passed by without aiding and crew evacuated to lifeboats as the fire raged, later said to be extinguished.
