County Rejects Erie Viaduct Reconstruction Responsibility
County Solicitor Jacob Held stated the county will not bear financial responsibility for rebuilding or retrofitting the West 6th Street viaduct. He noted construction originated with the city, the Pennsylvania Railroad, and the state Department of Highways, urging those entities to share any new construction costs. The viaduct, closed recently, has created a traffic bottleneck in a major city artery.
