Ask Rouse Employees To Skip Hearing
Fearing reprisals from Rouse Home commissioners, a union spokesman urged workers to skip a State Labor Relations Board hearing set for tomorrow afternoon at the Warren County courthouse. The case asks if Rouse workers may be represented by Local 224 of the Hotel Motel and Restaurant Employees Union AFL-CIO. Union organizer Peter J. Laskaris claimed more than 5 percent of the 48 employees signed cards seeking representation, and questioned whether the home is private nonprofit or a public institution, which would affect eligibility for union rights.
