Washington May 26 The Townsend revolt against the Old Age Revolving Pension spread to subordinates of Dr Townsend as two executives Kiefer of Chicago and Rev Wunder of New York failed to answer subpoenas. An executive session delayed contempt action while the hearing continued. In New Jersey a forest fire near Tuckerton burned five men to death and scorched 50 000 acres, threatening more losses as 2 000 workers battled the flames. The dead included Morey of New Gretna and four Camp Bass enrollees. Mayors noted fire damage around 150 000 dollars.

Frisco Swept by Blaze Kills One and Traps Two
On the WPA sewer project in Altoona Pennsylvania workers were trapped when a cavern collapsed in a 27 foot ditch. Bender 44 was killed and Roy Garman 34 was injured, crushed beneath rock dirt and saved after forty minutes. Four other workers were nearby at the time of the cavern.

Peterson Funeral Rites At Cochranton
Funeral services for Hugh L. Peterson, former Corry resident, who died in a Freeport fall, will be held in Cochranton Wednesday at 2 20 p m. Internment will take place in Crawford County. Peterson’s body was found Monday morning after drifting from a stairway under a bridge linking Armstrong and Westmoreland counties. He fell about thirty feet and likely suffered fatal neck injuries. Earlier reports of foul play were dismissed as his watch and money remained on his person. A Warren woman’s nomination for the Warren County Mothers Assistance Fund Board was sent to the Senate for confirmation by Governor Warle.
