Washington May 24 Attorney General Sargent moved to the White House to advise President Coolidge on signing or vetoing the latest tax reduction measure in conference. The bill faces a veto risk unless trimmed to about 210 million dollars.
Lancaster was chosen to host the 1920 Pennsylvania State Council Knights of Columbus convention after a tight vote between eastern and western delegates. Connowut Lake favored by the eastern faction. Lawrence G. Danna of Bradford elected state deputy for the coming year. no other officers were changed.
Waynesburg Pa May 24 grim tally in mine rescue shows 33 bodies still trapped after an explosion at Mather Mine eight miles from town. Of 162 recovered, 15 rescued, two days trapped, and 16 more dead at hospital. Rescue teams press to recover remaining victims as crews remain cautious amid dangerous debris and rock.
Rev A L Roth pastor of the First Baptist Church will deliver the Baccalaureate sermon for Corry High School’s 1928 graduating class at the Senior High auditorium on Sunday evening June. The service will be a union meeting with local pastors taking part. Separate readings and prayers will be offered by Rev William Hull Rev C Wesley Adams Rev Roger Cressey and Rev G B Morgan.

Mrs. L. T McElroy of Fifth Avenue and Miss F. Sketlié, a McElroy household worker, were injured in a late Wednesday afternoon crash near Cutting. Mrs. McElroy drove a Chrysler coupe. Earl Basting, driving a Ford coupe, collided as Walter McElroy's car led, triggering a dust cloud that obscured the approach. Mrs. McElroy suffered leg injuries, Miss Skellie knee and shock, while Mr. Basting endured a scalp wound. both vehicles were badly damaged.

In Buenos Aires a bomb exploded at the Italian consulate bureau injuring 34 and killing several. One man was arrested on suspicion of complicity as detectives recovered papers tied to Nino Sacco, an anarchist. The blast hit the passport office. immigrants filled the Italian establishment. The Italian ambassador arrived shortly after the explosion.
