Two Bandits Rob Bank in Kalamazoo Branch Heist
In Vicksburg Michigan on May 2 two bandits robbed the newly opened Flint National Bank of Kalamazoo branch, fleeing in an automobile with about $6,000. Bank manager Perrys Onwalt said he was alone in the bank after 8 pm and surrendered the cash. One robber described as medium height, the other tall. State police broadcast a description from Lansing. Washington May 28 The federal government is near completing its primary financing of the year after issuing about 92 billion in bonds bills and notes. Roughly 40 percent of the 12 billion total goes to refinancings of maturing debt. Secretary Morgenthau will offer a final quarterly bond and note sale in June, likely totaling 2.5 to 2.8 billion dollars. The Treasury will also issue 10 million dollars in bills weekly, with about 100 million earmarked for soldier bonuses. By June 20 the year will have seen financing totals rivaling peacetime highs, surpassed only by last year’s 18.5 billion.
