In Harrisburg Pennsylvania the state board of pardons refused to commute the death sentence of Charles Walker a Philadelphia Negro to life. He will be electrocuted at Rockview Prison at 12 30 a m Monday marking a change from the previous 7 a m executions. Walker had been released in 1931 after 10 years for second degree murder and was convicted last year of first degree murder in the razor killing of his sweetheart Lucille Sharp.

Huge Lake of Oil Said Hidden Under Pennsylvania
Pittsburgh May 28 A state geologist Cathcart told the American Petroleum Institute that a vast underground oil lake with two smaller pools lies beneath Pennsylvania possibly on the northern oil lands or in Clinton Cameron Centre Clear Held Westmoreland or Westmoreland counties. He said within a 12 000 square mile area three independent pools are indicated and the best prospects are in the northern plateau as southern extensions may reach West Virginia. Only a small portion has been prospected and more pools are likely to be found.
