Trial of Gianini for Beecher murder continues in Herkimer
The Herkimer trial of Jean Gianini for the murder of Miss Lidia Beecher continued with Principal Herkimer High School, Hert Robinson, testifying Gianini was in sixth grade when he left school the year before the murder. Robinson said Beecher never whipped him and that Gianini should not harbor hatred for his teacher. The defense pressed alienist testimony on inherited weakness, rejected by the court, and Dr. Butler described Gianini as a high grade imbecile with a near normal mind.
