Early reports indicate nearly two hundred dead and five hundred hurt after a sudden plant accident at Aetna Works in Pittsburg. The entire Oakdale plant was demolished at noon and scores may rise as the list is updated.
A massive explosion at the Avton Explosive Company plant in Oakdale caused a first blast at 1 30 pm followed by a second blast an hour later. Official death toll rose to 170 with over 400 seriously injured as救 rescue workers, Red Cross volunteers, and nearby hospitals mobilized amid widespread destruction.
A large delegation from the Masonic fraternity of Corry will visit Mount Moriah Lodge at Jamestown for a May 21 event. Members depart by train at 6 p m from Lerle rail road, with return from Jamestown at 2 30 a m and Corry at 1 25 a m.
The funeral for Mrs Viola St John will be Sunday at 2 PM at the United Brethren Church Hear Lake and will be conducted by Rev Dibbin. Interment is in the cemetery. She died at City Hospital after three weeks illness and is survived by a son and several relatives.

Edward Taylor a well known resident, borrowed a revolver from Kinney to visit a cattle market. He fired at the crowd, then turned and shot himself in the heart near the Bans building, dying instantly. Neighbors reported his recent poor health and mounting distress. He leaves several children well known in the area.
An early 20th century reform effort announces ward committees led by a chair and captains in each ward. Plans include a campaign drive beginning Monday with the aim to raise at least ten thousand dollars. The document names ward captains Ol A. Stennett Iain Ward Marke Coyte and Charles Walnw.
