In a third floor Cohen block apartment around 9 45 last evening Mrs Grate Covey 23 wife of T A Covey pulled a Spanish automatic pistol from a sweater pocket and shot herself in the right temple dying instantly while her cousin James Kinney of Worth Street played the piano. Deputy Coroner Mark Pullom said death was self inflicted. Kinney, visiting at the home, told how Covey asked him to stop playing Among My Souvenirs just before the shooting. Covey had appeared despondent all day and her husband was away in Bradford. Funeral plans for the deceased were announced.
Members of the Corry Motor Club voted against constructing and operating its own gasoline station here. Apathy in responding to the questionnaire was noted, but the decisive result ends further consideration of the plan as discussed in nearby Oil City and Sharon.
D A Hillstrom secretary and general manager of Corry Junction Town Manufacturing Corp led Kiwanis at the Hotel Corry luncheon through a tour of the local industry. He outlined the company’s growth since formation with expansion into foreign markets, a $25,000 storage plant to stabilize operations, and a $10,000 employee reward fund. The firm’s annual payroll is $250,000, and it uses substantial quantities of lumber steel coal paint and locks to ship products domestically and to Germany and other European markets in a $70,000 order. Windahl attended as guest. Lucile Murk tay played piano.
United Press reports that a Marine transport plane departed Miami Promida for Nicaragua. At 8 30 A M it reported a position 90 miles south of American Shoal light in the Caribbean and said it was making good progress.
Two people, Mrs. Margaret Hayne a 64 year old schoolteacher and Henry Drummey aged 89, were injured when an automobile driven by Henry Goldstein 35 crashed over a sidewalk and struck them in Pittsburgh. The driver escaped with fractures.
The Dairymen's League hosts a sub-district banquet at Hotel Corry tonight with about 110 guests. Fred Sexauer, NYC, league director, will speak on aims and achievements to foster closer ties between dairy workers and businessmen. C. A. Boutelle, Jamestown representative, will also address attendees from Union City Waterford North East Cambridge Springs Townville and nearby towns.
Prince Carol of Roumania arrives in Brussels with Mme Lupescu after leaving England by ruse. The prince, seeking succession rights, refused to comment on plans and traveled by a concealing limousine to Dover before boarding a ship.
Daniel Shields of Jonnatown Pa faced a federal court jury on a charge of conspiring to violate prohibition laws. The May 17 session saw both sides present pleas as Judge J R M Gibson presided. A noon recess followed the deliberations. Nine inmates were moved from Ohio County jail to the Atlanta federal penitentiary to serve sentences imposed by Judge William Baler.

United Press reports two U S Army amphibians reached St George's Newfoundland safely as a Bremen rescue attempt nears the Labrador coast. Weather forced delays and snow hindered progress. Meichoir expected to attempt a parachute descent to lift the grounded plane. Army planes remain at St George's awaiting the outcome.
Philadelphia May 17 Henry Ford visiting to receive an Elliott Gresson medal from the Franklin Institute spoke on happiness and wealth. He said true contentment comes from being interested and happy in your work and remaining young at heart throughout life.
Fraud charge tied to a Detroit arrest and Erie remand. Taylor accused of converting 165.69 of Sun Manufacturing funds to personal use while heading National Adjustment Bureau operations. Local complainant J A Lanston of Corry Sun Manufacturing. multiple irregularities involve hundreds in questioned collections. Remanded to Erie county jail on 2000 bail after hearing before Alderman Bassett.
New York May 17 Losses sustained by Sinclair Consolidated Oil Corporation through Investments in Mammoth Oil Company after Teapot Dome losses were invalidated have been repaid by Henry Sinclair. At a directors meeting yesterday an oil man turned over 250000 shares of Sinclair stock plus 450000 in cash totaling about 37075000 in present value.
G Scott Lyst stave compensation referee held hearings in several Tonal' cuses at the Municipal building there t a day. Among the cases before the compensation referee was that of George Bemis killed when the gasoline truck he was driving was struck by the PR R express team on the Hummer ties crossing several months ago.
Congress finally approves a government operation plan for the Muscle Shoals power and nitrate project in Alabama, representing an investment over 160 million dollars. The plan faces possible final obstruction from President Coolidge who has opposed government operation, leaving the outcome uncertain.
Dirigible Italia sets course for King’s Bay after a nearly two week polar journey. Commander Umberto Nobile reports a snow storm over Lenin Land and expects to arrive home tonight if current speed holds. May 17 verdict of murder and death by own action returned by coroner's jury in New Martinsville. Joul Garrett, 48, killed his wife and nine year old son Rufus then died by self-inflicted gunshot. A revolver and bloodied evidence found near Garrett related to the double murder suicide. In Shanghai experts report fugitives fleeing toward Manchuria and barbed wire around foreign concessions.
Tulsa reports two persons killed and property damage estimated from a tornado that struck the Drimright area west of here last night. The dead are J.C. Brinle, 38, Tulsa ward, and Carl Roach, 80, Dilton.
In Chicago on May 11 a massive sand pile covering a city block is being cleared as frantic searchers dig through floodlight beams for boy Johnny Pyres who is believed buried within. Volunteers and laborers work through the night locating traces of the child in the large mound.
