Special Election Upset Could Tie Senate 25 25

Harrisburg AP reports six new state legislators will be elected in the May 21 primary to fill vacancies. No shift in overall control is expected, but a Republican upset in one Senate seat could deadlock the chamber at 25 25, hindering Shapp administration bills. Democrats are favored in the 3 2 district, with four House and two Senate seats opening.

State liquor board seeks 75 new stores over three years

Harrisburg AP The Liquor Control Board asked budget officials for permission to open 75 new state stores in three years. Roscioli said final decision rests with budget officials and that over half of the new shops would be self service. Self service outlets show higher sales than traditional stores.
