Mather and Payne Deaths Mark Corry Yearly Obits

Corry residents Charles L. Mather and Theodore Payne died within days of each other, both at home on Washington and Center streets. Mather, 100, had lived in Corry since 1962 and died last evening after a sudden illness. Payne, a longtime resident, died soon after a heart attack while mowing. Also noted is a coming visitation by Rt. Rev. John Mark Gannon to administer confirmations at St. Thomas and St. Elizabeth churches, and local civic notes on a Congressional Districts Modification League effort amid Prohibition-era debates, plus a large Legion rally and historical references to federal troop actions in past crises.
