Salty sentences at Erie Goes to Pen for Thirty Years
Erie Pa May 1 One of the severest sentences in Erie county history was handed to William Curry for burglary and robbery in the May term. He received a long term at the Western Penitentiary likely exceeding thirty years due to habitual criminal status. He was linked to prior daring robberies and caught after detectives traced a hideout on East Sixth Street. The trial included a moment where Curry asked for explanation of terms, then accepted the sentence without flinching as guards moved him away. Chester McBaine, convicted of manslaughter, received a minimum two and maximum twelve year term at the Western Penitentiary. The courtroom scene showed his mother watching, emotionally affected, while relatives observed the proceedings.
