Severe thunderstorms and tornadoes swept through Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana injuring ten in Illinois and one in Wisconsin. Corry Area High School senior Steve Olson son of Mr and Mrs Robert Olson of West Columbus Avenue was notified by the Adjutant General of his appointment to West Point.
