Child Drowns in City Duck Pond
Firemen recovered the body of Harley Schrecken gost, 2 1/2, from a duck pond at Third and Newman streets after he slipped into the water while watching ducks. He had been submerged about an hour before rescue efforts succeeded despite a pulmotor. The boy, son of Mr and Mrs Harley J Schreckengost, lived at 320 Newman Street. another child, Simon Bengel, told his mother Parley fell into the pond. The pond is about half a city square and up to five feet deep in places.
