United Press dispatches from Washington report Admiral Mayo warning Tampico may fall to rebels by nightfall as heavy fighting rages near the city. The port of Tuxpan is also cited as likely to come under rebel control within hours amid the Mexican conflict.

Killed on Penny Today Near Warren

Alfred Paterson aged 55 of Irving Way was killed on the tracks near Warren Louisiana as a morning rain slickened the division. The operator and train crew saw him fail to clear the line as the overtaking freight passed between Ol City and Olean. The body was mangled and an inquest was held that afternoon at Tryine.

Feeney Trial Opens at State Labor Meet

At Harrisburg today Frank Feeney of Philadelphia faces charges from President Maurer of the State Federation of Labor accusing him of working against the labor cause to defeat labor legislation. Feeney says the charges are trumped to thwart his bid for state moderation presidency.

Beater's Counsel Fails to Break Rose in Cross Examination

United Press reports in New York that attorney Manton pressed Becker's chief witness Jack Rose but Rose withstood all lines of attack. Rose, calm and unfazed, denied prior aliases and past Chicago visits, maintaining he was in New York gambling rooms as claimed. District Attorney Whitman watched as Rose's testimony remained intact despite intense questioning.

City contracts executed for South Side paying project

This morning City official Lonewor G T Kincaid signed contracts for the South Side paying on Pleasant and Center streets with B M Love and Son. Mayor Patterson is expected to sign after bonding for one third of the total cost. Contractors prepare to furnish bonds, gather labor, and set equipment. If weather allows, work should begin mid next week.
