Two Nurses Rescued From Niagara Gorge Embankment

Mother of Four Indicted for Embezzling Funds

Wins Long Fight For Compensation Four Days After Death
Sinclairville man Robert G. Moreland, 44, who fought a seven year workers compensation battle after an on the job injury, won his case four days after dying at home. The Appellate Division upheld a 1981 Workmen’s Compensation Board ruling granting $40,000 against Brown Milling Company’s insurer for the May 31, 1945 accident. Moreland testified he carried a 150 pound grass seed sack, felt a dizzy spell, set the load down, and later suffered inability to work leading to his death four days before the decision. Attorney Toby Scarpino called the victory bittersweet.

Harrisburg reports from the state Welfare Department state none of Pennsylvania seven mental hospitals is in distress though all but one operate on less money than requested. Secretary William C Brown said proper management can carry hospitals through the 1951 84 period. Clark Summit received its full request of 4 595 000 with no reason given for the exception.

Mayville Woman Killed in Auto Wreck Near Folkston
Mayville resident Mrs. Charles B. Frost was fatally injured Thursday afternoon when an auto accident occurred 41 miles north of Jacksonville Florida. Frost, 15, had lived in Mayville 20 years and had been in Florida since October. A companion in the other car was not identified. Injuries also claimed the 83 year old Jane Jennings in Butler County Pennsylvania for the year’s 170th fatality, after she was struck by a truck Monday.
