Airman Frank L. Johnson of Philadelphia, AWOL from Warren AFB Wyoming, was shot by a guard while attempting to escape from the stockade at New Bustle Air Base. He died hours later after transfer plans to Prairie? A spokesman for the 471th Defense Wing said Johnson declined to name the gunman. He had fled from Wyoming to Detroit and Philadelphia after leaving Cheyenne. He was recaptured in Philadelphia and sent to New Castle.
