St Louis May 7 youthful confessed murderer Henr St John of Frank W Murphy druggist appeared resigned to death penalty demand. He told Circuit Attorney Howard Sideher he had served time in Kansas Nebraska and Missouri prisons and said he had enough of that life. He admitted killing Murphy without reason and asked for a guarantee of hanging in exchange for a guilty plea.
An influenza outbreak described as the worst since World War I appeared in Wilkes-Barre on May 7. Dr Leo S fundy estimated more than 4,000 cases in the city with children of school age most affected. Luzerne County imposes quarantine after a diphtheria epidemic.
