Washington reports wholesale prices rose eight tenths of a percent in April driven by a sharp farm price increase. The gain ends five months of stability, signaling higher living costs ahead. Industrial prices rose about 0.2 percent, with steel and other product hikes expected to appear later through the wholesale chain.
Pittsburgh mayor Peter Flaherty, 50, says he will not seek a third term in 1977 and plans to pursue the 1978 governor’s race.
