Clifford Dunmire, 41, of Pittsfield, was seriously injured when his car struck a bridge abutment while rushing to help Richard J. Ristau, 17, after a Route 27 wreck near Sugar Grove. Police said she fell asleep at the wheel, causing the car to veer off the road, roll into a ditch, and sustain head and leg injuries. The Corry Ambulance Service transported her to the hospital. Damaged car estimates are not provided.
Edward F. Sherbak, 28, of Grand Valley RD 1, died in Oil City Hospital after a puncture wound to the chest from a metal chip at the Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp. plant in Oil City. Venango County Coroner Jonathan Stetingon ruled the death an industrial accident.
