The 21.4 percent rise boosts AFDC maximums, affecting about 1.6 million people in June, with a mother of four now receiving up to $263 monthly, while limits on outside income trim 27,500 recipients from AFDC. The move aims to avoid a July 1 cutoff of $700 million in federal aid, pending Washington approval.
