Protests filed with the Board of Question by Charles Ames of Baldwiin formerly of Corry accuse the tax collector G H Gordon of heavy handed methods. The board asked for a written explanation and will inform Ames of his tax amount. A copy of the letter will be sent to Collector Gordon for presentation at the April meeting.
James Campbell 55 of Alon Pa was found beside Pennsylvania Railroad trucks with both legs amputated and remained in fair condition at Citizens General hospital. Local police investigated the incident and expected to file reports after the discovery near the rail yard.

Dublin march 20 American participation in the Irish sweepstakes draw for Friddys Grand National Steeplechase at Liverpool averaged about one third, similar to prior draws, as 47 horses were drawn by Irish girls from a revolving drum.
Paris report outlines distrust of British German armament talks and warns Berlin could push toward a broader European agreement. Officials quiet but unofficial sources say Germany gains leverage over the Allied nations and could offer Britain a western European aerial defense pact to ease fears and split the entente. Berlin notes Hitler’s stance strengthened by Memel sentences as four Germans face death and 83 prison terms, used to argue Germans were oppressed and World War I treaties unjust.
Pittsburgh March 26 The Erie County commissioners appeal from a county court verdict of 14953.56 favoring Henry Shenk Co contractors was heard today by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The firm remodeled the Erie county courthouse in 1928 adding a new wing. The contract did not cover outside firing and fixed office equipment. The Shenk Co claimed 49 weeks delay caused undue hardship due to maintaining a skeleton staff until project completion.
Washington dispatch outlines how President Roosevelt will allocate the 4.58 billion work relief appropriation. A government directorate will administer the program while Congress finalizes the bill. Four top officials named to bear major duties include Marty Hopkins, Rexford Tugwell, Admiral Christian Peoples, and Harold Le Tekea.
In Harrisburg March 26, the House moved four of eight revenue bills toward final passage as Governor Earle's $203 million program advanced. The Senate, debating constitutional revision, adjourned for further action while the House approved personal property tax increases and other measures. Pittsburgh March 26 The county's appeal to the state supreme court from an interlocutory order of its common pleas court was returned to the lower court on motion of the township's counsel to quash Harold F Mook appearing for the township upheld that the supreme court was not compelled to act until a final order was entered below The litigation arose from alleged in streaming tax assessment and was dropped back for a final order by Judge Charles D Copeland Westmoreland County The township appealed to the county tax revision board claiming the assessment excessive The board stood its ground and the common pleas court dismissed the county commissioners motion to stay the appeal The motion argued that township failed to show injury or aggrievement
Sunetterre Quebec March 26 Stanley E. Siscoe Montreal mining executive crashed in northern Quebec last Tuesday found frozen to death today about two miles from the crash site. Pilot Tom Wrathall remained with the plane until rescued the day before. Siscoe walked from the plane in snow shoes facing a long trek to safety. Rescue planes located Wrathall as hunger and exhaustion slowed him. The searchers found Siscoe's body frozen stiff this morning after he collapsed in heavy snow.
Lucy S. Hilliard, 22, of Bradford, is jailed in Allegheny County on impersonating a federal officer and obtaining money under false pretenses. She allegedly posed as a CWA investigator, a secret service agent, and a postal inspector to gain men’s confidence and extract funds, with promises of government employment. Deputy U S Marshal John Dempsey brought her to Pittsburgh after her arrest in Bradford.
The Franco-Italian accord reached in Rome provides for mutual cooperation in Europe and African colonies and was ratified unanimously by the Senate today. Foreign Minister Pierre Laval paid tribute to Premier Benito Mussolini during the debate. Norman re elected London Bank governor remains for 14th consecutive year.
In Paris on March 26 Rover Gordon Swilt and his wife Marjorie face espionage charges in a landmark case. United States consul Rover Murphy was told by Premier Hamet that he would monitor the court as the pair’s concession leads to five arrests, nine others held.
The Board of Education authorized drafting a letter to Brit county’s representatives to press for expedited measures on equalizing property assessments and relieving burdened districts. Governor Earle’s program was praised amid frustration with the legislature’s delays. The April meeting will address depository bond uncertainties and treasurer liability with Solicitor Blaine Kincaid present.
Harrisburg March 26 Warret van Dyke secretary of highways has advised contractors to start work early in April on six road projects costing 265086. The contracts are part of the carry over program of the administration awarded before January 35 now van Dyke became secretary. Federal funds promised by Pennsylvania totaling 12,000,000 over the next two years will finance the six projects involving about seven miles of construction.
Federal relief leader Harry L Hopkins told Governor Earle that Pennsylvania must raise five million dollars each month after April 15 or federal funds will be cut. The plan hinges on legislation to supply Pennsylvania’s fair share as Hopkins cited forty eight million dollars advanced to the state since January 15 for relief. State Relief Administrator Robert L. Johnson said an undercover probe will label under five percent of relief recipients as cheats.
Harrisburg March 24 United Press lawmakers prepare to discharge the constitution revision committee from Ruth House bill No 142. The Od Democratic plan to revise the state constitution faces a crucial roll call under Senate Rule 42. The vote comes as Lt. Guy Kennedy presides for the first time since 1925 amid a 23 to 22 amendment dispute over immediate consideration for Senator Anthony Caynidale Fayette Democrat.
A Corry resident was fined $5 by Alderman George H. Gordon for possessing a dog without a license. The citywide campaign, led by Dr. C. D. Cook of Girard, aims to rid Corry of unlicensed dogs or impose owner taxes, with fines ranging from $5 to $100.
