PennDOT Chief Sees More Pa Highways Falling Apart
HARRISBURG AP Gov Shapp seeks federal help to cover a 110 million deficit in the Motor License Fund for next year. Even if filled, Kassab says only 12 million more for highway maintenance won't stop deterioration of 8,000 to 10,000 miles of roads. He notes 184 million for maintenance in the 1974-75 budget is insufficient and describes stalled efforts for a 100 million bond and 35 million federal funds.
