Mrs Eda Frost sues a suave stranger who bought her Chevrolet coup and left her with a worthless check for 460. Police pursue a man named E G Jones from Delaware Street claiming to be an insurance agent. Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Briggs of Corry mark their 58th wedding anniversary today at home on Bond Street. They were married March 20, 1870, in Wayne Township by Rev. Wm. Cadman and have lived in Corry 14 years. The couple, ages 79 and 75, hosted a family dinner with about 20 relatives, joined by children, grandchildren, and a great grandchild, with several relatives unable to attend.
Peggle Ames pled guilty in Federal court before Judge W H S Thomson to violating the prohibition law. He was fined 100 and placed on one year probation with orders not to use manufacture or sell intoxicating liquor. Investigations say he operated a moonshining plant in Concord Township for years, with farmers filing complaints about his stills and liquor. Federal agents conducted the raid Saturday, confiscating two large stills ten barrels of liquor and mash. Mike LaCava, arrested in raids last year, was discharged in Federal court yesterday and is under arrest on a farm south of the city.
Miss Marjorie S. Desmond daughter of Mr and Mrs J J Desmond of the city played the title role in Master Shylock at Players Hall in West Newton produced by the Lend a Hand Dramatic Club of Greater Boston. The Radcliffe graduate has since taught at the Southland Masly School of Boston and engaged in dramatic and musical work in Boston New York Ohio. Police continue investigation hoping to identify the sharper who may have left an opening for his apprehension.
