Large throngs enjoyed the musical comedy The Groves of Blarney Castle at St Edward's Hall over the weekend. Directed by Rev F J Graves with Mrs Ruth Sheen assisting, the program featured local dancers and guest artists, and received universal approval for its Gaelic atmosphere and well delivered numbers.
United Press report from Philadelphia states that over 1,000 Budd Manufacturing Company employees refused to participate in a union election. The workers, affiliated with the United Automobile Workers and a linked local AFL group, voted to abstain from the vote on whether bargaining should be handled by a company controlled union.
Four Ridgway residents were injured when their car collided head on with a truck while en route to Erie to serve as federal court jurors. Three remained at St. Vincent's hospital for observation after initial treatment for cuts. The injured include Fred Manville, 17 Church avenue. Mrs. Alvin Cutherbert, 38 Morgan avenue. Finn J. The committee plans to compare events at the Ambridge steel plants with those in Fayette County and Harbburg.
