Jamestown Leaders Reject Cut in Lake Weed Control Funds
Local leaders in Jamestown voted to maintain a $250000 state appropriation for weed control and dragging on Chautauqua Lake. The unanimous decision followed a luncheon with Assemblyman E Herman Magnuson after Governor Harriman proposed lowering the request to 12000 for study. Magnuson said he was encouraged until he learned of the change from Louis A Wehle the Conservation Department Commissioner.

Warren R Fargo of Columbus Died of Heart Attack
Warren R Fargo 58 of Columbus died Saturday afternoon at home from a heart attack. His death was found by his wife at 6 p.m. and attributed to natural causes by Coroner Ed Lowrey. Born January 16, 1897 in Kennedy N Y he lived in Columbus and Corry as a telegraph operator. He survived by his wife four sons a daughter six grandchildren a brother and two sisters. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery after a service at First Methodist Church.

Fourteen members of the Ravelin Hill 4-H Club met February 23 at Raymond Hathaway home. Demonstrations covered valve raising and brood er horse care. The group planned calf rearing demos and a March 11 recognition party at Corry junior high gym. Community updates include hospital stays, farm meetings, a donkey basketball event, and a Stork Shower hosted by Mrs Whaley. E. N. Close of Clymer Hill died suddenly in Georgia where he spent the winter. Burial was held there Thursday.
