Police investigate a car tape player theft from Earl R. Reed's vehicle on East Washington Street behind Bowl-Aire Lanes. A pair of plastic speakers valued at 70 dollars were taken. Corry police have a lead as the case continues.
Mrs Cordelia A Miller age 73 of 17 West Pleasant Street died at Corry Memorial Hospital at 10 45 last night after admission that afternoon Born August 20 1897 in Butler she grew up in Meadville and married Frank T Miller November 3 1920 in Erie moving to Corry in 1925 She was a member of St Thomas Church Surviving are three sons William Eugene Robert one sister Calista Walp Meadville fourteen grandchildren one great grandchild one niece and four nephews Preceded in death by husband Frank in 1954 and son John in 1958 Friends may call Bracken Funeral Home Sunday and Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p m with prayer services at 9 a m Tuesday before Requiem Mass at St Thomas Church 9 30 a m The Rosary will be said at the funeral.
In Corry, Charles Silvis received up to three years in prison or a $4000 fine for aggravated assault and battery on a one year old. Mass Jr. claimed a retrial request was denied. Donald Glenn of Spring Creek was sentenced to six months in Warren County Jail plus $500 in fines after an alcohol related Route 6 crash and subsequent DUI charges. He also faces prior reckless driving and tailing offenses. An Associated report notes German families pay children allowances totaling $409 million yearly as of a recent study. Burial details for a local deceased are listed as St. Elizabeth's Cemetery.
Funeral services for Mrs Spencer were held at Bracken Funeral Home at 2 pan with John Frontera officiating. Burial followed at Spring Creek Cemetery. Bearers included Nellis Pless Jr Gordon Berg Vincent Jones Tony Lilley and Fred Mihalus. Attendees from out of town were several couples from Union City Spartansburg Bear Lake and Youngsville along with Corry area friends. Leonard Shadeck had private services at St George Funeral Home with burial at Pine Grove Cemetery. Attendees from out of town included Leo Shadeck and Roger Anderson of Karthaus Pa.
Lafayette College announced a tuition and room and board hike for the 1972-73 academic year, its third rise in as many years. The comprehensive fee will climb to 2650 dollars in September 1972, up 150 dollars from 2500 dollars for 1971-72. the then-current rate was 2250 dollars.
