Three Jailed In Pittston Miners Feud

Three men Powers Hapgood Wile and another arreste d in Pittston in a mine labor feud case charged with inciting riot by United Press. They were jailed by Mayor Gillespie after failing to post a $1 000 bond for disorderly conduct. Hapgood blamed limits on free speech while the mayor urged order as crowds sang and waved mourning bands in front of Pittston City Hall.

March Gale Strikes New York Causing Billions In Damage

A severe March gale lashed New York State causing widespread damage. Winds exceed 60 miles per hour, disrupting wire communications as lines and branches were torn down. Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh seek subway line use

The Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway asked the Interstate Commerce Commission for authority to use the nine mile city owned subway railway in Rochester. The tunnel line runs in the former harbor canal bed and cost about 12 million dollars to build to service local industries requiring steam road access into the city.

Postal receipts show rise across 40 cities

Washington March 5 postal receipts in 40 cities totaled 30,546,872 dollars, up 1,248,184 from February 1 figures. Postmaster General New announced the gain, led by Memphis Tennessee with a 278 percent increase and Akron with a notable per cent increase.

The Corry Hospital Association board elected Miss Anna E. Kerns of Van Wert Ohio as superintendent, succeeding Miss Clara M. Widdifield who resigned. Kerns a Lima City Hospital graduate has Army Service time and previously led Van Wert County Hospital. She comes to Corry from Meadville where Widdifield has joined.

Six Die In Fire At Saskatchewan Farm Home
