A Wilkes-Barre hoax staged by John Sadd and an accomplice had two men dressed as Arabs meet coal magnate Louis G. Beltrami in a hotel room to discuss a sale. Beltrami denied selling and said the Arabs spoke little English while a bartender admitted involvement only to reporters. The stunt, led by a barroom dispute, aimed to test Beltrami’s stance on foreign control of US energy.
