Court hearing on machinery tax starts in Erie
In Erie on March 2 Judge Burton R Lab opened the long delayed hearing to determine the validity of a quarterly million dollar machinery tax. Er ie manufacturers object to city records access and say the tax is unlawful. more than 100 local firms have appealed. If overturned refunds exceeding a half million dollars may be due. The tax is labeled discriminatory by the Chamber of Commerce and the Manufacturers Association of Erie.
