Members of Company A of this city would be included among the 72 000 National Guardsmen to be placed under the workmen’s compensation act and other provisions. Rep. Wm. G. Smith, Mercer Democrat, sponsors six bills at the current session. The bills would provide compensation for families of guardsmen killed in service, adjust financing, and transfer payments to the state treasurer with vouchers approved by the adjutant general. They set new annual allowances, expand items not payable with federal funds, and modify military fines collection and longevity pay. Additional bills by Rep. Hugoort J. Timer would exempt guard units hosting boxing and wrestling matches.
