Jamestown Council Okays Cutbacks
Jamestown City Council approved several money saving measures in 1971. Plans include eliminating five positions and halving the city treasurer's tellers to one, saving about 4000 dollars. Fire Station No 2 may close pending new city hall occupancy, cutting four firefighters. The Asst Police Chief post will be abolished with Daniel F Bentley rising to captain. Dozen Escape Lancaster County Prison
Eleven inmates escaped Lancaster County Prison by climbing a 25 foot wall and leaping to freedom, with a twelfth injuring a leg during the jump and being returned for treatment.
