No Way To Stop Mergers Before Deadline On Thursday

At a Corry Area School District interim committee meeting Sparta's Robert Nichols spoke of a possible year delay for statewide mergers via a bill to extend the deadline to July 1. State Senator R Budd Dwyer said passage was unlikely and strong opposition from the Senate Education Committee would kill it. With a Supreme Court tax ruling and parochial school funding disputes dominating, merger opposition efforts were halted.
