Julius Pienkowstd, 8, of Union City, R. D. 1, is jailed on a $2,000 bail set by Alderman George H. Gordon for release until the next county court term. He faced a hearing this morning on operating a motor vehicle under the influence. Other occupants Aguor, Vincent Pele and Leo Rubant at the same address were fined $19 each. Pienkowski admitted drinking but denied being drunk when arrested. police said the car zigzagged and narrowly avoided two accidents.
State motorists will pay an extra cent per gallon starting Monday July 1 as the gasoline tax rises to four cents. The Department of Revenue notified 10 distributors statewide that the hike applies for one year only, beginning this date.
