Final rites for Higley Jr. moved to 3:30 p.m.
Bracken Funeral Home announced the funeral for Raymond Higley Jr. will be held at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow instead of 2 p.m. as previously stated. Carlton Smith, city treasurer, warned taxpayers that the city tax deadline is next Tuesday with a 5 percent penalty starting July 1. Weather outlook predicts temperatures 5 to 7 degrees above normal with scattered showers midweek and high humidity through the period. Local incidents include complaints about kids playing near a garden, a loose dog, and drivers engaging in sprees with loud mufflers, plus band rehearsals and county hospital plans for nurses housing and TB facilities. Three Bradford men were fined $500 each for bookmaking after pleading guilty.

Dulles Sees No Explosion in Mississippi Crisis
Secretary of State Dulles said he saw no likely explosion in Mississippi during his days there as civil rights tensions rose. He met with Governor Johnson and civil rights leaders in Jackson and Meridian, while NAACP leaders urged federal marshals to protect workers.
