Mundt urges law changes to empower Senate committees
Senator Mundt says the government reorganization law has a blind spot that blocks any Senate committee from calling itself into an official meeting without the chairmans consent or forcing a chair to convene. He and Senator Dworshak advocate letting a committee take care of a recalcitrant chairman or act when one is absent or ill. Mundt notes a Pentagon reply on two staff clearance cases as part of McCarthy era inquiries.
