War Department plans speeded victory using overwhelming air power against Japan. B 29s to hammer Kure Arsenal and five aircraft plants with daily sorties, signaling massive damages greater than those faced in Germany.
Washington June 22 The War Department sent a 38.5 billion supply bill to the House floor with an army pledge to speed victory over Japan by overwhelming force. Generals Marshall and Arnold testified plans include 1,000 B 29s daily and dropping 2.7 million tons of bombs in the coming year.
War Financing Committee reports the seventh War Loan drive total to date at noon reaches $929 816 including E bonds and other securities. Pennsylvania Electric Company purchase allotment announced yesterday at $45 000, ten times larger than earlier, amid slow bond sales and a family bond purchase appeal. A special campaign along Chik Ling begins next week.

He is expected to return to Fort Dix after leave for further training and reassignment with the crew, which will remain intact for future service against Japan.
St Sergt Thomas J Varrasa of the Blackhawks arrived from Fort Dix New Jersey today to visit his wife and daughter at their West Pleasant Street home. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Luke Varrasa of West Park Place and served with the 86th Blackhawk Division, the first complete unit to return after combat against the Germans.
State Health Department investigator Paul Hellzentailer arrived to probe alleged dumping conditions in the east end of the city. Mrs EB Bl Henon filed the complaint from 864 Liberty Street. Hellzentaler reported the dump was fairly well maintained though garbage disposal needed proper handling and covering. He conferred with Councilman Kinley and the local safety department. findings will be presented to council.
Harrisburg announces a new state law that provides a two percent discount on school levies paid within two months of tax notices. The discount starts next year and may require districts to raise tax rates to cover revenue losses.

Joseph R Babe reviewed cost accounting methods and the group enjoyed lunch courtesy of the Zurn Company.
