Stump Creek Pennsylvania, once deserted after a mine closing, is being rehabilitated as a model for rural towns. The Institute on Science and Man bought the town to show self-help redevelopment with resident participation, funding from private and state sources, and a newly formed residents council that includes women and a teen.
