Bar Urges New Estate Law After Garrett Case
Harrisburg June 20 The four year fight over the Garrett estate in Philadelphia spurred a Pennsylvania Bar Association committee to urge legislation to turn such estates over to the commonwealth. The vast fortune of Henrietta E Garrett who died in 1930 saw only about 67 thousand dollars pass under her will. The committee said a future law should bar distribution beyond distant heirs and provide that estates with no heirs or distant relatives escheat to the state.
